The article draws upon the evidence for Minoan “foundation deposits” whilst refers to their terminology and interpretation issues. As Hunt (2006, 128) points out …foundation rituals were not isolated cult practices, but belonged to a cultic Koine that existed throughout the ancient Mediterranean….It seems that “foundation deposits” marked the initiation and consequently the consecration of a building’s life, usually through sacrifice and prayer, as well as the ritual burial of the “sacrificial offerings” within the main “corps” of the building itself.
