Στιγμιότυπα από τις ποικίλες δράσεις ενός νεολιθικού νοικοκυριού: η «οικία 1» του Ντικιλί Τας

During 2012, new drillings confirmed the discovery of Early and Middle Neolithic layers at the base of the tell at Dikili Tash, in its northeast side. The excavation, though, focused on sector 6, aiming towards the identification of the limits of ‘house 1’ (dated from around 4300-4200 BC), and the total investigation of its interior. The dimensions of the building are found to be about 10 x 6,60 m.

The study of further Vito’s finds from this house and a combination of chemical residue analyses in ceramics confirmed that the pressings, placed in the jar together with grape juice, were going under fermentation. When fire destroyed the house, apart from the ‘new’ wine, a rich variety of clean crops (bitter vetch, einkorn wheat, linseed, acorns, wild pears) were stored in it. Furthermore, a variety of objects, including stone and bone tools, tableware and storage vessels, were found in situ within the debris of the collapsed clay walls in the excavated area. Especially we mention two large groups of objects unearthed within the limits of the house: one with some 260 stone, shell and clay beads together with fragments of raw materials. One other group of finds contained 3 graphite cones, 12 spondylus gaederopus bracelets, 30 pendants made of boar teeth, together with some teeth in a stage of processing, and some 700 stone and shell beads, some of them wrapped with 4 small golden ribbons. Thorough study of these finds will elucidate many aspects of life of a Neolithic household.
