Colloquium: The Past on Display
Cambridge, Fitzwilliam Museum, Friday 23rd September 2011
This one-day colloquium will explore the principles and the practical issues behind museum displays of Greek and Roman antiquities, and ask how successful recent re-displays have been. In each session the issues will be raised in short introductory talks, followed by panel discussions between museum professionals, critics, architects, and academics. The colloquium will culminate in the 2011 ‘Severis Lecture’ where Professor Dimitrios Pandermalis (Director, New Acropolis Museum, Athens) will talk on ‘The New Acropolis Museum: Project and Realization’. This will be followed by a reception in the Fitzwilliam Museum.
