With this circular we announce the Third International Scientific Meeting of the “Archaeological Work in the Peloponnese” (AWOP3). The meeting is organized by the Department of History, Archaeology, and Cultural Resources Management of the University of the Peloponnese and will take place in Kalamata on 3-6 December 2020.
The aim of AWOP3 is to inform specialists and the general public on archaeological work undertaken in the Peloponnese, the islands of the Gulf of Argos, Kythera, and Antikythera during the last three years, namely: finds from recent excavations and other fieldwork, the results of recent studies of new or old material, work relating to the conservation and management of monuments and archaeological sites.

The Conference focuses on the region of the Eastern Mediterranean, which includes the area from the south of Corfu to the East, and on a time spanning from the 4th Millennium to the 6th century BC. Travelling, networks and contacts in the ancient Eastern Mediterranean has been the subject of many past conferences, essays and studies, being considered as the decisive factor which promoted cultural interaction and distribution of goods and ideas in the region throughout antiquity.

The 4th CAA-GR conference ‘Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology, Greece’ will be held at N.C.S.R. “Demokritos” on 1st and 2nd October 2020. It will be jointly organized by the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications The focus of this year’s conference will be on ‘Big Data in Archaeology’. Δημόσια και ιδιωτική αρχιτεκτονική). Θεματική θα είναι η Συνάντηση και του χρόνου, με θέμα που θα σας ανακοινωθεί εγκαίρως. Με τα παραπάνω δεδομένα, σας γνωρίζουμε ότι η ετήσια 33η Συνάντησή μας για το Αρχαιολογικό Έργο στη Μακεδονία και στη Θράκη θα πραγματοποιηθεί από την Πέμπτη 5 Μαρτίου ως το Σάββατο 7 Μαρτίου 2020.

The hosting National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with the Natural History Museum of Crete of the University of Crete invites the international scientific community and authorities that are involved in managing risks and hazards in volcanically active areas to participate in the Cities on Volcanoes 11 Conference to be held in Heraklion, Crete from May 23th until May 27th, 2020. The title of the meeting will be ‘Volcanoes and Society: environment, health and hazards’. It will be focused on multidisciplinary monitoring volcanic environments in the vicinity of cities and highly touristic areas. At the same time, the ability to recognize the hazards and their impact on people, emergency management by civil protection authorities, community education, case studies and risk mitigation to reduce the impacts of volcanism and its effects on society will undoubtedly be discussed.

Το θέμα του 8ου Πανελληνίου Συνεδρίου Φοιτητών Αρχαιολογίας είναι «Το άυλο μέσα από το υλικό: θρησκεία, μαγεία, ιδεολογία, πρακτικές». Απομακρυσμένοι από οποιαδήποτε θρησκευτική προκατάληψη, σκοπός του συνεδρίου είναι η ανταλλαγή ιδεών και η αλληλεπίδραση των φοιτητών και των ενδιαφερόντων τους. Όμως, ακόμη πιο σημαντική είναι η παροχή ώθησης σε νέους να παρουσιάσουν πτυχές της επιστήμης που όλοι καλούμαστε να υπηρετήσουμε, επικουρούμενη και από άλλα ερευνητικά πεδία. Οι φοιτητές μπορούν να αναπτύξουν εργασίες για οποιονδήποτε λαό, οποιαδήποτε χρονική περίοδο, οποιαδήποτε θρησκεία, οποιουδήποτε γεωγραφικού προσδιορισμού.
