Η διαδικτυακή Πύλη του Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου Χανίων παρέχει τη δυνατότητα πρόσβασης στις ψηφιακές συλλογές και ειδικότερα σε 614 αντικείμενα της μόνιμης έκθεσης κατανεμημένα σε 19 επιμέρους κατηγορίες ανάλογα με το είδος τους (αγγεία – σκεύη, γλυπτά – ανάγλυφα, ψηφιδωτά, επιγραφές, νομίσματα, κοσμήματα – σφραγιδόλιθοι, Άλλο, ειδώλια, μικροτεχνία, πινακίδες – δισκία – σφραγίσματα, όπλα – εργαλεία. Επιπλέον, οκτώ από τις προαναφερόμενες κατηγορίες παρουσιάζουν τα αντικείμενά τους με 3D εφαρμογή).
Το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Χανίων υπάγεται στην Εφορεία Αρχαιοτήτων Χανίων. Στεγάζεται στο καθολικό της ενετικής μονής του Αγίου Φραγκίσκου. Ως Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο άρχισε να λειτουργεί το 1963. Τα εκθέματά του δίνουν μία διαχρονική εικόνα της πολιτισμικής ιστορίας του Νομού Χανίων από τη νεολιθική εποχή έως και τα χρόνια της ρωμαιοκρατίας. Η έκθεση χωρίζεται κατά πλάτος σε δύο μεγάλες ενότητες : Στο ανατολικό τμήμα εκτίθενται ευρήματα της ύστερης νεολιθικής εποχής και της χαλκοκρατίας (μινωικοί χρόνοι). Στο δυτικό τμήμα εκτίθενται αρχαιότητες της εποχής του σιδήρου (ιστορικοί χρόνοι). Τα ευρήματα παρουσιάζονται κατά ανασκαφικά σύνολα και κατά θεματικές ενότητες.
The Sphakia Survey is an interdisciplinary archaeological project whose main objective is to reconstruct the sequence of human activity in a remote and rugged part of Crete (Greece), from the time that people arrived in the area, by ca 3000 BC, until the end of Ottoman rule in AD 1900. Our research covers three major epochs, Prehistoric, Graeco-Roman, and Byzantine-Venetian-Turkish, and has involved the work of many people using environmental,archaeological, documentary, and local information.
The Plakias Stone Age Project is a Greek-American collaborative project that funds research on the Stone Age discoveries around the village of Plakias in southwest Crete (Greece). It began in 2008 with the Plakias Mesolithic Survey where both Mesolithic (11,000– 9000 B.P.) and Lower Palaeolithic sites (1.5 million years–250,000 years ago) were found.
This website is based on the first overview catalogue of the Sir Arthur Evans Archive prepared by Dr Yannis Galanakis in March 2012. This archive is one of the most important resources of the Department of Antiquities at the Ashmolean Museum.
H γραφή και επομένως η καταγραφή της ιστορίας στον ευρωπαϊκό χώρο εμφανίζεται για πρώτη φορά στη μινωική Κρήτη. Το 1878 ο Μίνως Καλοκαιρινός διεξάγει τις πρώτες ανασκαφές στη Δυτική Πτέρυγα των Ανακτόρων της Κνωσού, ανακαλύπτοντας μεταξύ άλλων και την πρώτη πινακίδα σε Γραμμική Β Γραφή. Από τον πρώτο ήδη μήνα των ανασκαφών του στα ανάκτορα της Κνωσού ο ΄Αρθουρ Έβανς ανακάλυψε τα τρία είδη γραφής: την «Κρητική Ιερογλυφική», τη Μινωική Γραμμική Α και τη Μυκηναϊκή Γραμμική Β, εισάγοντας έτσι τη μινωική και τη μυκηναϊκή Κρήτη στο χώρο της ιστορίας.

Το Απεσωκάρι είναι ένα χωριό στη νότια κεντρική Κρήτη και τοποθεσία αρκετών προϊστορικών αρχαιολογικών θέσεων. Μία από αυτές είναι ο Θολωτός Τάφος Β. Είναι ένα λιθόκτιστο μνημείο, με χρήση στην Πρωτομινωική και Μεσομινωική περίοδο (περ. 3500-1650 π.Χ.). Ανασκάφηκε το 1963 από τον Κωστή Δαβάρα, ομότιμο Καθηγητή προϊστορικής αρχαιολογίας του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και τότε Επιμελητή Αρχαιοτήτων της Ελληνικής Αρχαιολογικής Υπηρεσίας.
Naturally, the major aim of the Three Peak Sanctuaries of Central Crete project is to publish the material discovered at the peak sanctuaries of Philioremos-Gonies, Keria-Kroussona and Pyrgos-Tylissos in central northern Crete. In order to achieve this, many years of post-excavation work have been dedicated to the three sites' pottery. As a result, sufficient information was gathered to allow the project to also begin a comparison of the three sites with one another.
Situated at the easternmost part of Crete, the small valley of Choiromandres forms the southeast end of the fertile depression of Zakros. The eastern part of the valley takes the form of a rocky ravine with a steep gradient View of the eastern extremity of Choiromandres valley.. In winter, rainwater flows down the mountainous terrain, forming a raging torrent that runs along the slope, causing soil erosion on either side, often with devastating consequences.
