Stone technologies by the lake: the macrolithic assemblage from Neolithic Dispilio, Kastoria, NW Greece

Excavations carried out by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the Neolithic lake-site of Dispilio (Middle-Late Neolithic, circa 5700-3500 cal. BC) at the region of Kastoria, NW Greece brought to light an impressive -in terms of pristine preservation and typological diversity- macrolithic assemblage. Counting more than 3000 artefacts, the macrolithic assemblage of Neolithic Disiplio is one of the largest known from Neolithic Greece.

A tale of two sites: Technological traditions at the Pleistocene to Holocene boundary in Greece, based on evidence from Boila Rockshelter and Kephalari Cave (lecture in Greek)

Overall environmental instability during the postglacial in Greece, in conjunction with possible population growth, led communities at the end of the Pleistocene and early Holocene to develop a variety of adaptation strategies, including diet diversification, reduced mobility, seafaring, technological variability, and expansion into novel environments.

The archaeology of Aegean prehistory: time for decolonization?

The recent movement in academia, especially in the humanities, which is expressed by the term decolonization brings together a number of intellectual, social and political concerns and builds upon critiques and positions that have been advanced over the last decades. In the field of Aegean prehistory there is still no coherent program for decolonization, and one may not be needed.
