Vincenzo La Rosa passed away

Vincenzo La Rosa passed away, at the age of 73, in his house in Catania, after a long illness. He was a leading scholar in the field of Aegean archaeology, and his excavations in Ayia Triada (1997-1999) and Phaistos (2000-2004) brought a great contribution to our knowledge of Minoan Crete. His interests, however, were not limited to the Aegean Bronze Age, but extended also up to the byzantine period in Crete, Italian prehistory and history of the archaeological research. In 1999, he founded the Centro di Archeologia Cretese, and since 2000 has been scientific director of the journal Creta Antica and the series Studi di Archeologia Cretese. After his retirement, in 2011, he was attending to the final publication of his excavations in Ayia Triada.
