The Mycenaean cemetery at Kolikrepi, Spata (lecture in Greek)

Swedish Institute at Athens (Μitseon 9, Acropolis Metro station)

The site of Kolikrepi is located west of Spata (Attica), between the cemeteries of chamber tombs at Magouleza and Velanideza. During rescue archaeological works in 2009, conducted by the 2nd Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities (now Ephorate of Antiquities of East Attica), was found and excavated an extended unlooted cemetery dating from LH IIA up until LH IIIC. It is the second biggest Mycenaean cemetery of Attica, after Perati, consisting of 65 rock-cut graves of various types (chamber tombs, pits, pit caves), which are distributed in high density. The tombs of the cemetery contained multiple burials, all of which were secondary. The burials were furnished with a significant quantity of pottery, such as Vapheio cups, bridge-spouted jars, stirrup jars, kylix, alabastra, and cups. The grave goods also included jewellery (beads made of glass, faience and semi-precious stones), sealstones, clay figurines, spindle whorls, conuli, bronze toilet equipment and weapons. The cemetery of Kolikrepi consists one of the few Mycenaean sites in Attica dating in LH IIA and abandoned during LH IIIC.
