This volume presents the results of a five-year survey and excavation project at Palaikastro (east Crete). By shining a light on the site’s immediate landscape, the project has revealed long-term agropastoral subsistence strategies in the area, from the Neolithic to the Late Bronze Age. Excavations in the settlement uncovered a new neighbourhood, with three buildings of Middle and Late Bronze Age date. With a methodology integrating several fields of analysis, from bioarchaeology and material culture to soil micromorphology and architecture, this publication opens a new chapter in the long history of archaeological research at Palaikastro, and Minoan Crete more broadly. Much supporting data in the form of tables and charts, as well as Appendices on the Palaikastro Education Project and a reappraisal of the Petsophas peak sanctuary, are available in PDF format on the BSA website.
