Based on the petrographic analysis of 101 samples representing the main ceramic wares, the paper discusses the provenance and the organization of production of the handmade Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age pottery from the settlements of Liatovouni and Krya. For comparative reasons, a sample of 20 sherds was selected from a number of sites in the Ioannina basin. The present study represents the first archaeometric analysis of prehistoric pottery from Epirus and provides information on the raw materials used for pottery manufacture, the methods of surface treatment and the firing conditions.
